the bow hunt

I went up with austin, his dad, and brother on the hunt. It was so pretty up ephriam canyon. I got some really great pics which i will put up as soon as i can. Austin is really good at shooting. I knew that he would at least get close to getting a deer. Well on the last day that we were up there austin shot one but it hit the shoulder blade and didn't go very deep, and so we tried to follow the blood trail but no luck. It didn't kill the deer, only slightly injured it. Bummer.

So we packed up camp and headed down the mountain. On our way down though we were looking for deer and we ended up seeing two bucks right off the road!! So austin being the mighty hunter that he is shot at it and hit it!! So we started to follow the blood trail and austins dad kept saying we don't want to push him too much and so we stopped following him and plus it was dark. So i was bummed and i think austin was bummed too. Austin and i decided that we would come back tomorrow and try to find the deer.

We woke up early and made our way back to the canyon. It was so exciting and austin could barely contain himself! He was so so excited! Well we got to where we had stopped tracking it and we started once again. Austin tracked that blood train like a pro! and then all of a sudden we saw more and more and then we looked down this hill and there it was!!! AHH!! We were so excited! I am so proud of my austin! It was funny because it was just off the side of the road! where we had walked by the night before.

But anyways we pulled the deer up and away from the road which was kinda hard because they are so heavy! Well we did it cause we are muscular.

And to sum it all up i wached him gut it and skin it some and then take it to the butcher. It was pretty awesome. =) I am excited to see how much meat we get back from the butcher =) And for sure next year i am getting a tag!! =)
