I can't believe how uncomfortable a luxury truck can feel when you're in labor. My butt was hurting, my belly was hurting, and my back was killing me! How naive was I to think the ride was going to be easy.
The first half of the drive Austin was still timing my contractions. They were ranging from 3-4 minutes apart and lasting 45-60 seconds. He would tell me how long they were and how far apart each on was. Finally I snapped at him that I did NOT need to know the exact time for each contraction, I was feeling them well enough to know that they were still coming; they hadn't disappeared.
Now my contractions were not "bone searing" like the doctor said they would be when I would go into labor. They were not enjoyable, its true, but if my mom hadn't told me that she had back labor and the general feeling I would have thought these were just another great side effect of pregnancy.
My support team on the drive was great. My mom called Labor and Delivery to inform them that we were on our way to the hospital coming from MON. The nurse was really sweet and said she would inform my doctor that we were coming. Austin kept having to dry his hands on his pants because he was so excited they were sweating and sticking to the steering wheel. He had a big grin on the entire way.

I think that when a woman goes into labor that is the one time that pain brings smiles to faces. Odd, but true.
We made it half way were we stopped at McDonald's to use the bathroom. I waddled in not caring how I looked or anything. Austin got me just an english muffin to snack on since I hadn't eaten and the banana I tried to eat made me feel nauseous. I only ate part of my muffin, but I remember trying to share some with Austin. Rather pitiful. Ha ha.
I know what you are all wondering...DID YOU MAKE IT TO THE HOSPITAL???
I am happy to say that we did make it to the hospital. Austin drove us safely there and we made it in 2 hours and 35 minutes I believe. We left a little after 7:30am and after checking in at the front desk and signing some papers and everything I was in my gown in my room by eleven.
They asked if I wanted a wheel chair when I first came into the hospital and and I said no, I want to be standing and walking, it feels better.
I get into the room and that's when the real fun begins!
